The Dallas Mavericks didn’t just pick one player. They drafted the anchor of the franchise. Cooper Flagg was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Some people were surprised by this pick. For others, it makes sense.
Flagg spent just one season at Duke. It’s been exactly 12 months. Although it didn’t give him enough time to fully develop his skills, he still stood out. His height is 6 feet 8 inches. His wingspan is 7 feet. That’s big size for a young guard.
But size wasn’t the only reason Dallas drafted him. Flagg brings a versatile skill set. He can block shots. he knows how to handle the ball. He can attack. Defensively, he is a nightmare for opposing teams. Offensively, He sees the floor better than most rookies.
Flagg is known for his versatile game, especially his shot blocking and playmaking abilities.
The Mavericks need a new face. Someone to move them forward. He fits the bill. he’s got the tools He’s got the size. He has an IQ. This is where the real work begins.
